Wednesday May 27, 2009: Tale of an Expedition

Mr. Kilian Volken, a Valais native who is an avid and experienced mountian climber visited UCCR yesterday to share his triumphs and hardship in the process of planning, preparing and executing climbing trips to K2 and Mt.Everest.

After a video on the trek, he openly answered questions about the trips and his experience.

Sunday May 24, 2009: Paintball

Brig vs. Le Bouveret

Mission: Paintball


Sunday afternoon, eighteen students from both Brig and Le Bouveret met in Evoléne to battle at paintball!

After playing 6 matches the Brig team was victorious! The score was Le Bouveret 2, and Brig 4.

Everyone walked away from the paintball range with a few new bruises and welts, covered in sweat and dirt… and with smiles from ear to ear.

The afternoon was great fun, and I am sure that a rematch will occur in the near future!

Friday May 22, 2009: Cesar Ritz Students know how to Hula!

Friday the Alumni Reunion tour arrived in Brig. After a morning full of formal introductions, tours and lectures everyone was ready to relax at the Hawaiian Barbeque at school. The attire was casual, and many chose to dress festive as well!

After a few hours of savouring mouth-watering barbeque prepared by the kitchen crew, and chatting with friends both new and old those who attended were ready to hang loose at Chaos.

Fun was had by all this evening, and it may be soon to become a tradition for the Alumni reunion. Mahalo to everyone who worked so hard to make this evening a success, we could not have done it without you!

May 16-17 2009: Le Bouveret and Brig go to Europa Park!

Brig and Le Bouveret joined forces for a memorable trip to Europa Park in Rust Germany.

Europa Park is an Amusement park with the theme of a ‘miniature Europe’, many European countries are represented throughout the various segments of the park including Germany, Italy, Greece and even Iceland!

The group ate their fill of festival food, rattled their brains on the thriller rides, was cooled by splashes of water on the water rides and was awe struck by the 4-D cinema and the laser shows.

The weather was unbeatable, and the weekend was an outstanding bargain and adventure for everyone who joined. It was very nice to have the two campuses thinking as one in terms of fun!

May 14-15, 2009: "Once upon a time in Mexico"

Five months of practice, dedication, and hard work were evident in the quality and entertainment value of this term’s performance.

The play was a comedy based in Mexico. Everyone involved with the production and promotion of the show worked incredibly long hours to construct a quality set, memorize their lines, and practice the choreography.

The chemistry of the actors made the show outstanding and hilarious!

May 9, 2009: Ready Steady Cook

Saturday Afternoon the participating teams were pumped for ready steady cook!

The idea behind the competition is that each team is given the same ingredients. They have 45 minutes to turn these ingredients into the best tasting, most appealing and most creative dish.

Several students and staff members judged the winning team. Congrats to Rohan and Ankur on their success!

Thank you to all the participants, Guido, Fie, Julius, Nick, Kevin, and Suzi... I hope you had as much fun cooking as we did watching you cook!

Sunday May 3, 2009: UCCR Basketball Tournament

The weather stayed beautiful for the Basketball tournament on Sunday!

The PGDip Students Battled the BIB students for the title of UCCR Spring 2009 Basketball Champions!

The PGDip Students came out victorious!

Saturday May 2, 2009: UCCR Volleyball Tournament

Four Teams of six people each spent Saturday battling for the title of Volleyball Champion of UCCR Spring Term.

The tournament was arranged so that each of the teams would have the chance to play all of the other teams, the final match was:

Paul Djordje, Christoph, Oxana, Philippe and Shikhar

VS.

TEAM 3
Peter, Kaylee, Sasi, Chuchari, Mr. Konrad, and Chin

Team 3 was victorious!

Friday May 1, 2009: Student Committee Presents the 'Hollywood Party'

Amy Winehouse made a suprise enterence to the dining room at school on Friday.
Waving a bottle of beer, she invited everyone to the Hollywood Party on Friday Evening.

Student Committee spent hours planning the decorations, and transforming Chaos to a red carpet event.

DJ Tobi rocked the house as Amy Winehouse took over the role of paparatzi for the event. Every guest who entered was photographed in front of our very own Hollywood Sign.

Stars including Rambo, Madonna, and The House Bunny were present

Thursday April 16, 2009: Banff Film Festival in Naters

The Banff Film Orginization creates and screens films about extreme sporting and the outdoors.

Each year they do a 'world tour film festival' .. for 2009 the world tour extended its screening to over 40 countries, with limited shows in each country.

UCCR was lucky enough for the Film Festival organizers to choose Naters as a viewing location. Naters in a short 10 min walk from Brig.

A group of about 15 students and staff joined in for this event, and it was great! One of our students even won a t-shirt though a random prize drawing.
